Cost: No Cost – This training is funded by the Garret Lee Smith Youth Suicide Prevention Grant through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and the Traumatic Loss Coalitions for Youth Program.
Intended Audience: This training is designed for practicing mental health clinicians in school-based youth services, behavioral health agencies or private practice including: TLC Coalition Members and Coordinators, School Counselors, Nurses, Psychologists, Certified Counselors, Nurses, Psychologists, Screeners, Social Workers, Mental Health Clinicians, Juvenile Justice and Law Enforcement Personnel, Clergy, Marriage and Family Counselors
Registration is Required: Please fill out the attached registration form and email to ariasmva@ubhc.rutgers.edu to register. This training is didactic and experiential. There are a limited number of 30 seats available. Confirmation will be emailed to registrants. Without an email confirmation, you are not registered.

Program Description: Connect Suicide Prevention/Intervention Training increases the capacity of professionals and communities to prevent suicide across the lifespan. Connect uses a public health approach and incorporates key elements of the National Suicide Prevention strategy. This curriculum includes how to identify suicide warning signs and intervene with a person at risk. Building on that foundation, Connect focuses on the community as a whole and how to work across systems to build a safety net for people at risk.
Program Goal: Mental health and substance abuse providers are on the front lines of suicide prevention efforts. A unique community based, public health approach, Connect training increases the competence of mental health and substance abuse providers in recognizing and responding to individuals who are suicidal or at risk for suicide.

PROFESSIONAL CONTACT HOURS:
Please note: Participants may not be eligible for Professional Contact Hours if not on time and present for the entire session.
Participants must sign in before the beginning and sign out after the conclusion of the program.
Participants must submit a completed evaluation form at the end of the program.
Partial credits will not be issued to participants arriving late or leaving early.
Additional Certificate Fee for Professional Contact Hours is $20 payable by separate check / money order ONLY after the conference. Please contact Sharon Eaton at (732) 235-9282 with any questions or concerns regarding continuing education documentation for this activity.
Certified Counselors: Rutgers University Behavioral HealthCare (UBHC) is an NBCC Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEPTM) and a co-sponsor of this program. UBHC may award NBCC approved clock hours for events or programs that meet NBCC requirements. The ACEP maintains responsibility for the content of this program. (4 hours). Approval Number 6198.
Marriage and Family Therapists: This course will count for recertification credit towards NJDCA Marriage and Family Board licenses and certifications (LMFT) Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care provider number #200201113.5REC. (4 Credit Hours)
Nurses: Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC) is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the New Jersey State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. P#204-7/12-15. Accredited status does not imply endorsement by Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC), NJSNA, or ANCC of any commercial products or services. (3.58contact hours)
Psychologists: Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care maintains responsibility for the program and its content. Instructional Level: Beginning. (4 CE Credits)
Screener Recertification: In compliance with Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care-Technical Assistance Center (TAC) policy, 4 full TAC Continuing Education credits will be issued only to Screeners who attend the entire scheduled class. There is no charge for this certificate.
Social Worker (The New Jersey Board of Social Work Examiners): This program is approved for social work continuing education hours by Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care in accordance with New Jersey administrative code 13:44G and recognized by The New Jersey Board of Social Work Examiners. This program is approved for 4 general continuing education hours. IMPORTANT NOTE: Social Workers must be prepared to write in their Social Work license/certification/registration number and license jurisdiction on the sign in sheet. Please be sure to bring this information with you to the training.
Social Worker (Association of Social Workers Board): Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care, provider #1173, is approved as a provider for social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) www.aswb.org, through the Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program from August 10, 2012 to August 10, 2015. Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care maintains responsibility for the program. Social workers participating in this course will receive 4 continuing education clock hours. Targeted social work practice level: Beginning. IMPORTANT NOTE: Social Workers must be prepared to write in their Social Work license/certification/registration number and license jurisdiction on the sign in sheet. Please be sure to bring this information with you to the training. Check with your state board to ensure acceptance of these credits.
